If there was only one place you should visit during your time in Tokyo, our number one choice - and absolutely no hesitations here - would be the Aman. Part of a luxury hotel group of the same name, which has created some of the world’s most striking and breathtaking hotels, the Aman is not just an oasis, but also a refuge, a sanctuary and a place full of inspiration, which celebrates Japanese traditional design and takes it into the 21st century.&#38;nbsp;

When you enter the Aman on the 33rd floor of Otemachi Tower, you’ll be stunned by the sheer size and height of the 30m-tall lobby and inner garden, making it easy forget that you find yourself near the top of one of Tokyo’s tallest buildings. The right-handside of this floor boasts “The Lounge by Aman”, a must-see and must-visit café, bar, lounge, boutique and fumoir with almost unrivaled city views during any time of the day. The very lovely bartenders also serve up some of the city’s best cocktails, fusing traditional Japanese flavors into modern cocktails at a price tag that will make even luxury travelers’ credit cards smoulder. The Aman is also a popular spot for Tokyo’s more affluent crowd to indulge in the hotel’s signature Black Afternoon Tea, although we recommend to skip this experience altogether and go for one of the heavenly desserts, a two-layered original bento box or signature wagyu cheese burger instead.&#38;nbsp;
On the same floor as The Lounge, Aman also has its very own Italian restaurant named “Arva”, which brings Italian high-end cuisine to the Japanese capital. Our experience at Arva has been mixed, with some dishes being delicious, some just average and the size of the dishes generally being rather small. Opened at the end of 2018, the Aman now also boasts its very own Edomae sushi restaurant named “Musashi by Aman” which cateres high-grade sushi delicacies created by master Hiroyuki Musashi to the ever-hungry sushi crowd of Tokyo.

If you are in the area, don’t forget to also visit The Café by Aman which is located on the ground floor/ garden side of Otemachi Tower.

After (hopefully) visiting the gorgeous Lounge by Aman on the 33rd floor of Otemachi Tower, head down to the little “Otemachi Forest” garden on the first floor which surrounds Aman’s satellite café. Boasting a classic French menu with favourites such as galettes, crêpes, pâtés, charcuterie and more, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more relaxing ambiance in this bustling business district.

Located on top of Tsutaya Daikanyama, one of Japan’s, if not the world’s best book stores (in our humble opinion), Anjin is not just blessed with an incredible location but also a gem in its own right. Often overlooked by people busy browsing through the bookstore’s three buildings, Anjin lounge takes over the second floor of the center building and offers a break from the monster of a bookstore that is Tsutaya Daikanyama. With a small selection of drinks and foods on offer, it is the perfect stopover to browse through the lounge’s collection of vintage magazines and further inspect any of the books from the downstairs area. Before you leave don’t forget to marvel at the phenomenal artwork by Masatake Kouzaki who created a nine-metre-long, golden screen panel which acts as the center piece of the lounge.

Anjin sometimes has live piano music during which evenings guests will be asked to pay an extra a music charge.

Bill’s origins trace back to 1993 Sydney, where Australian native Bill Granger opened his first restaurant of many, soon shooting up in popularity all over the world for his legendary cooking. Now one of Tokyo’s most popular lunch and dinner spots for the design-conscious city dwellers, bills continuously manages to draw the crowds with its gorgeous interior and creative modern cuisine. The Omotesando location overlooks one of Tokyo’s best OG rooftop gardens, and is flooded by gorgeous golden hour sun in the late afternoon. While bills is best known for its legendary breakfasts, the evening atmosphere transforms the space into a stylish dinner destination, complete with cocktails and a breathtaking nighttime view stretching toward Shibuya. The Parmesan Crumbed Chicken Schnitzel in particular is one of our favorites.&#38;nbsp;

A word to the wise: reservations are highly recommended. Otherwise, be prepared for a wait—this spot is a true favorite. Oh and did we also mention that this is one of our favorite fluffy pancake places??&#38;nbsp;

A visit to Tokyo wouldn’t be complete without a stopover at SunnyHills. Located in a quiet side street in the fashionable district of Aoyama, the Tokyo flagship store of this Taiwanese pineapple cake shop was designed by none other than Kengo Kuma, who created a masterpiece of Japanese architecture and craftsmanship and another standout piece in Tokyo’s avant-garde architectural landscape.

SunnyHills is one of Taiwan’s most renown producers of pineapple cakes, a traditional buttery sweet filled with jam-like pineapple paste which can be sampled for free at this location. When visiting SunnyHills, the friendly staff will guide you to one of the upper floors, where you will be served one of the shop’s famous pineapple cakes and a Taiwanese tea, all without having to commit to buying anything.&#38;nbsp;

Before leaving this architectural gem, be sure to pay visit to the restrooms on the uppermost floor, which feature a sophisticated tilted sink and are one of our favorite bathrooms in Tokyo.

Also, beware that SunnyHills is very popular and can get crowded on weekends, so be sure to arrive early or opt for a weekday when visiting.&#38;nbsp;
