CONNEL COFFEE

There are few locations in central Tokyo as iconic as the Sogetsu Kaikan, the headquarters of the Sogetsu School of Ikebana. Designed by none other than the legendary architect Kenzo Tange, the building was completed in 1977 and features an extraordinary rock garden on the ground floor by renowned artist Isamu Noguchi.

On weekdays, visitors are welcome to stop by Connel Coffee, the second-floor café. Open to the public even if you’re not affiliated with Sogetsu, the space reflects the school’s refined aesthetic with a sleek interior and mirrored glass façade overlooking the adjacent park—flooding the café with a tranquil, ever-changing collage of greenery and light. The café also serves sandwhiches and light lunch for those looking for an off-the-beaten track place to rest and recharge.
