Robot Restaurant | Shinjuku
ロボットレストラン
Let’s be completely honest: The Robot Restaurant is far from being a secret spot for locals as it is made for and frequented mostly by tourist, but hey, sometimes that is exactly what we want isn’t it - the bright, frilly, loud and exaggerated sensory overkill of “Japaneseness”, fulfilling just about every stereotype of robotic Japan that the media have engraved into our brains. While some might consider this too touristy for a real Tokyoite, we were still really impressed by the elaborately made robot-show and especially by the seating featuring the restaurant’s famous shell-shaped chairs which itself are a work of art not to be missed. We recommend that you arrive well before your show time and enjoy a little complimentary gig in the lounge before making your way down to the actual show area. Although called a restaurant, you can enjoy the performance without one of the two meal options, or just grab some snacks in between breaks.
