Salon Nihonbashi

茶論 日本橋店

Located on the fourth floor of the recently opened Takashimaya S.C. Annex in Nihonbashi, Salon Nihonbashi aims to carry on the tradition of Japanese tea ceremony into the modern era by offering open and modern tea ceremony lessons for beginners and upwards. While these lessons, guided by Salon’s very own tea ceremony master, are conducted in Japanese only, you can instead head for the small tea salon and indulge in one of the beautifully arranged tea sets. The Jidate set offers guests the opportunity to prepare their own matcha, guided by the knowledgable café staff, but more seasoned green tea aficionados might want to opt for the Chaji set which includes two styles of green tea and two types of sweets, or the matcha affogato - thick matcha sauce poured over vanilla ice cream.

Before you head out, make sure to marvel at the beautifully made tea utensils in Salon’s very own shop, which offers wooden boxes, tea bowls and everything else you might need to explore the world of Japanese tea ceremony.

Green Tea and Seasonal Wagashi Set ¥1,300-2,500 (excl. tax)
Chaji Set ¥3,000 (excl. tax)
Jidate Green Tea Set ¥1,800 (excl. tax)
Matcha Affogato ¥900 (excl. tax)
