Hidden in the back corner of Seibu Ikebukuro’s Rooftop Garden is a branch of bonsai expert Seiko-en, a shop selling some of the biggest variety of bonsai we have seen in Tokyo. With prices ranging from 2000 yen for small models well into the tens of thousands of yen for older and rarer types, expect to leave this store enchanted by the beauty of Japanese miniature tree breeding, an art which is said to date back about a thousand years. Before you leave this plant oasis make sure to also check out the adjacent cacti-paradise Kakusen-en.
