Tokyo Saryo | Sangenjaya

東京茶寮

Located just 5 minutes by train from Shibuya, Tokyo Saryo is an exquisite minimal-style tea parlour which has caught the attention of local and international media not just for its sleek design but also for its unconventional tea preparation methods. Just like with hand-drip coffee, Saryo uses a uniquely designed type of filter to prepare its eight different kinds of single-origin sencha (a form of green tea) carefully selected by the baristas. Following the trend of hole-in-the-wall coffee stands, Saryo places the ancient tradition of Japanese tea ceremony into a modern context, offering a one-of-a-kind experience of tea meets design.

Note: Tokyo Saryo is only open on select Saturdays. Before visiting, be sure to check their website and reserve in advance if necessary.
